Terex has long been regarded as a leader in bringing new products, technologies and innovations into the utility market. It is with great pride that Terex is continually introducing new ideas and concepts to its customers and relishes the challenge of accepting that role of keeping in front of an ever-changing market.
1945 Telelect develops a mechanical digger. 1948 Telelect designs the rapid forward/reverse gear box. 1951 Telelect introduces a derrick to assist road travel with the A-frame boom 1954 Telelect develops a fold over kit for the derrick. 1955 Telelect introduces the concept of storing the digger and the derrick on top of the truck without disassembly. 1958 Telelect designs hydraulics into the A-frame derrick. Telelect designs the digger with a hydraulic motor. 1961 Telelect introduces the Rite-Way auger storage bracket allowing the digging operation to take place under the boom and not to the side of the boom which could cause twisting Telelect designs the collector block which allowed derricks to rotate continuously and unrestricted through the 360 degree envelope. 1962 Telelect develops the Telecon digger derrick with 85% of the capacity of larger derricks in a smaller package. 1966 Telelect introduces the Commander I Series of digger derricks with box beam booms and dual lift cylinders! 1968 Telelect introduces the Captain Series and now offers a full product line of digger derricks. 1969 The first aerial device line named the Zip Family. 1970 A unique digger derrick with an articulating arm is developed, called the Spinner...capable of 360 degree articulation. 1971 Proportional controls were introduced to allow the operator to slow down or speed up during the application. Electric remote controls were introduced. 1973 The Telbow is introduced as our first overcenter material handling aerial device. 1975 Telelect introduces the Titan line of cranes. 1977 Telelect enters into the non-overcenter, aerial device market with the TN Series. 1980 Telelect adds material handling to the telescopic line of aerial devices. 1982 Telelect introduces a new line of overcenter material handling aerial devices known as the T-3000, T-4000 & T-5000. 1985 Telelect designs the 85 Series digger derrick product line, comprised of 4 new and innovative units. 1986 Telelect introduces the first hydraulic lift for aerial devices, allowing the T-5051 to reach an additional 15 feet. 1988 Simon purchases Telelect. Simon-Telelect begins process of resource teams with suppliers Simon-Telelect produces the first telescopic material handling aerial device mounted on a hydraulic lift of a different design...the TS-373. 1989 Simon-Telelect creates the double hydraulic lift for the T-5055 which allowed that unit to extend an additional 20 feet. 1991 Simon-Telelect designs a non-overcenter material handling aerial device for transmission work known as the ST-7000 Series. 1992 Simon-Telelect introduces the most innovative overcenter, material handling aerial device in existence, the Hi-Ranger OM Series. Simon-Telelect purchases the assets of Hi-Ranger, Inc. to broaden the product scope offered by Simon-Telelect. 1994 Simon-Telelect introduces the HR-37 M overcenter, material handling aerial device that has all the advantages of a small aerial and all the features of a large one Simon-Telelect creates the TPL Series of articulating/telescopic aerial devices that offers working heights from 34 to 45 feet. 1995 Simon-Telelect introduces the 5TC Series non-overcenter material handling aerial device which features the "True-Comp” Compensated Boom System. 1996 Scheduled introduction of Simon-Telelect's latest line of equipment, the XT-52 Tree Trimmer. T292 Telescopic Aerial Device released by Simon-Telelect. 1997 Terex Corporation purchases Telelect. April 1997 name changes to Terex Telelect. June 1997, the Terex Hi-Ranger HR-42/46 M is added to the aerial lineup. The Terex Commander 4040 is added to the Commander Series lineup. 1998 Terex Telelect develops a the single cylinder L4000 Series digger derrick. Terex adds the Hi-Ranger HR-50 M and HR-55 M to the HR-42/46 M product line, creating the HRM Series. Terex-Telelect introduces the SC Series aerial devices. 1999 Being an ICUEE year, a number of new units are introduced this year. The Hi-Ranger 5FC Series is introduced to replace the 5FB Series. TEREX Telelect adds a telescopic personnel lift in the TL36P. The XL4000 Series is added to the digger derrick lineup. It is a heavy-duty, single-cylinder digger derrick. The HR-40 M is added to the lineup of the HR-37 M to form the HR Series. Finally, the transverse lift is added as an option to the XT Series to provide an additional 10ft. working height. 2000 Terex Telelect introduces the TLM Series offering a 37 foot and 41 foot material handling telescopic aerial device. The RM Series was available with or without a hydraulic lift. 2003 The Linesman Series debuted with the TM1 05 aerial - providing a working height of 105 feet. Redesigned the Commander 5000 and Commander 6000 Series. Introduced the new generation of the Telecon Digger Derrick. Late 2003, the "X" family of aerial devices is introduced. This included the XM Series, XML Series, and the HRX Series. 2004 The non-overcenter, material handling aerial devices of the TCX Series with optional LB articulations is introduced in September. Company name changes to Terex Utilities. Telelect Digger Derricks and Hi-Ranger Aerial Devices remain as brand identifiers. The smaller TCP-36 is added to the cable placer offering. 2005 The TM167 is introduced to the Transmission aerial lineup offering. 2006 Terex Utilities debuts LT Series. 2008 Terex Utilities introduced the NT29 Aerial Device, a non-insulated, telescopic aerial device. Terex Utilities introduced a plug-in hybrid demonstrator in conjunction with PG&E. 2010 Terex Utilities introduced the SCM Series of aerial devices. Terex Utilities introduced the L13i to the international market. 2011 Two new aerial devices, the TCX65/100 and the LTM Series, introduced by Terex Utilities.
